Immersive worlds built around people - not avatars.
A European research and innovation project reinventing how we meet, learn, recover and create inside virtual worlds.

The idea
We've made virtual worlds impressive. We haven't yet made them ours.
For as long as people have gathered, storytelling has been how we share knowledge and feel we belong. It bends to whoever is listening, it invites them in, and it carries meaning through words, expression and gesture all at once.
Extended reality should be storytelling's next chapter - but too often it falls short. Avatars are stiff, experiences are scripted, and many people are left at the door: anyone who speaks another language, relies on gesture or expression, or simply doesn't find today's interfaces easy to use.
ORIGINS takes immersive technology back to what storytelling has always been - intelligent, interactive and inclusive - and rebuilds it for shared virtual spaces where people are authors of the experience, not just its audience.
What we're building
One open platform. Three technologies. Four places it has to prove itself.
ORIGINS combines real-time holoportation, multimodal interaction and generative Al in a single, human-centred platform - then puts it to work with real people in culture, education, tourism and healthcare. Every part is designed to be accessible, tested in the open, and released as tools that others across Europe can reuse long after the project ends.
